Southern Trucker Stops Map

Congratulations, Roadmaster CDL School Graduates, and Welcome, New Drivers!

Now that classes are over, CDL training completed, and your new career underway, you may start to wonder at the stops you’ll make along your trucking routes. To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most legendary restaurants and stops for truckers along the southern east-west route of the US. To those who are wondering: all stops listed offer commercial truck parking.

Georgia

Gladys Knight and Ron Winan’s Chicken and Waffles7301 Stonecrest Concourse Suite 123, Lithonia

From Catfish Baskets and Fried Green Tomatoes to shrimp and grits and southern style breakfast foods, Chicken and Waffles will give you a proper introduction to southern cooking. Just outside of Atlanta, this stop puts you close to all of the major roadways in and out of the city.

Arkansas

Nick’s Bar-B-Q & Catfish1012 North Bankhead Dr., Hwy 13 North, Carlisle

If you’re looking for good barbecue, Nick’s Bar-B-Q & Catfish is the king around the quarters. Offering anything BBQ you could imagine and wrapping things up with a delectable dessert menu (think peanut butter pie and “Chocolate Confusion Cake”), it’s a little slice of heaven in Carlisle, Arkansas.

Louisiana

Tiger Truck Stop76740 Garner Ln, Grosse Tete

Tiger Truck Stop is in a whole league of its own. Serving up breakfast and creole food alike, the menu is everything you’d expect and more of Louisiana. What’s more, though, the stop is home to a very protected, very comfortable and tended-to tiger named Tony who really steals the show here.

Texas

The Big Texan Steak Ranch7701 I-40 East, Amarillo

If you’re hungry/up for a challenge, The Big Texan Steak Ranch has just the solution for you: finish one of their legendary 72oz steak dinners in sixty minutes or less, and receive the entire meal for free. You can’t go to Texas without getting a steak, and you can’t get just any ol’ steak when the Big Texan Steak Ranch is along your route.

Colorado

Johnson’s Corner2842 SE Frontage Rd., Johnstown

Johnson’s Corner is a true double threat: On one end of the spectrum, you’ll find a delicious menu full of home-style dishes and world-renowned breakfast platters. At the other end, you’ll see that Johnson’s Corner functions as one of the greatest bakeries around. Most frequently given advice: “Try the cinnamon rolls… they’re to DIE for.”

Arizona

The Little America Hotel2515 East Butler Ave., Flagstaff

Located about 90 miles from the Grand Canyon and under a day’s journey from the coast of California, The Little America Hotel is an incredible place to eat, relax, and reenergize. Food choices range from soups and buffalo wings to steak and roasted turkey, with quality in every crumb. Stay for dinner or stay the night. The Little America Hotel offers an excellent beginning and ending to your cross-country trip!

California

Casa de Fruta10021 Pacheo Pass Highway, Hollister

No matter what position California is on your journey, you can start or finish with a refreshing sample of fresh fruits, delectable desserts, and true, Golden-State cuisine. In it’s restaurant, Casa de Fruta offers casual entrées such as burgers, meatloaf, and pasta. In its store, the Casa offers a wide selection of fruits, sweets, snacks, and unparalleled wine in addition to many other exclusive treats. No trip through the Golden State would be complete without a stop at Casa de Fruta!
